Core Values

Imperfect People Serving a Perfect God

God will use imperfect people in imperfect ways to accomplish His perfect will. Imperfections are not a disqualification when it comes to the Kingdom of God.

Helping People Find God

God will never leave us or forsake us, but sometimes we will wander. The Rock exists to help others find or return to the love of Jesus.

If it's not good, then God isn't done

God goes ahead of and behind us, and He has a victory for us. If He has done it before, He can do it again. He is always on our side.

Each One Reach One

The Gospel is alive and active today, and all believers have the ability to reach those God puts in our path.

Our Beliefs

Our Pastors

michael and casey

Pastors Michael and Casey Gragg both grew up in Boone and have 4 amazing children.  When called into ministry, we never imagined the opportunity to minister in our hometown, BUT God had a greater plan and purpose. Ministering in the high country since 2005, we have loved getting to know our community through a new lense and don’t take for granted the beauty and “home town” feel of Boone.  The Rock has become a “local” church for many non-locals. We love helping people navigate new seasons when they move to the area. We would love to meet you at the next pastors meet and greet where we will share the story of The Rock and share a meal together.

Mike Bozeman

Family and Small Groups Pastor

Hi, I’m Mike Bozeman and I have the pleasure to serve as the Family Pastor here at The Rock Church. My wife Michelle, and I, with our three kids Nicholas, Calvin, and Kelsey moved to the High Country in 2011, from Buford Georgia. We are originally from Florida but the military has taken us all over the US. It’s been an honor to work with Children and Youth for the last twenty nine years. I have learned as much from them as they have from me. Our desire is that each child will come to know God and grow in Him and His amazing love. If you are new here or are interested in Children’s Ministry or just want to have a cup of coffee and a chat, don’t hesitate to contact me.

At the Rock we believe in Circles over rows. If you're interested in leading or attending a small group please reach out.

Katie Arnette

Children's Ministry Leader

My name is Katie Arnette, and I have the great privilege of serving in The Rock’s Children’s Ministry. I am married to my best friend. Jonathan Arnette. Together, we have four beautiful children. With four little ones, life is certainly an adventure! But, we love every moment.

I absolutely love serving the children and families of The Rock each week. My desire and passion is to pour Christ’s love and truths into the next generation of believers, so that they never doubt how loved they are, and to make sure they are readily equipped to share the love of Christ with others. God is doing something so great in these children, and I am beyond grateful for the opportunity to be a part of it.

Paul Burch

Men's Ministry Leader

Meet Paul Burch, a dedicated leader of our men's ministry here at The Rock. With a passion for guiding men on their journey of pursuing a deeper relationship with God, Paul has become an influential figure within our community.

Paul firmly believes in the power of surrender, often reminding us that "we are only as powerful as our surrender." This profound statement captures his belief in the transformative power of surrendering our lives to God. Through his leadership, Paul encourages men to let go of their own desires and submit to God's will, recognizing that true strength comes from surrendering to Him.

Aside from his role in ministry, Paul is a loving husband to his wife Stephanie, and together they have two children. Prior to his involvement in ministry, Paul and Stephanie both served as law enforcement officers, dedicating their lives to protecting and serving their community.

As the men's ministry leader, Paul's mission is to inspire and equip men to become faithful followers of Christ. He leads by example, demonstrating the importance of surrender, cultivating a strong relationship with God, and living a life rooted in faith.

We are incredibly grateful to have Paul Burch leading our men's ministry, and we invite all men to join us in this journey of growth, surrender, and pursuit of a deeper relationship with God.

Jerry and Tara McColgin

Marriage Ministry Leaders

Jerry & Tara McColgin believe that God designed marriage, and He intends for it to be the most intimate and incredible relationship that you can have with another person.  We felt called to the beautiful mountains of North Carolina from the plains of Indiana to launch a marriage ministry. God further led us to the Rock where we found a perfect fit for our calling and the desires and needs of a local church.

We have been married for 40 years, have four children and ten grandchildren!  We use Biblical application along with our life experiences to work with couples to help them obtain all that God intends for their marriage. We offer couples coaching, marriage mentoring, small group offerings and fellowship gatherings.  Jerry is an ordained minister, so he can even perform weddings!

If you are married, check out one of our frequently held offerings. We'd love to see you there.

Ministers of Outreach

The heart of The Rock’s Outreach Ministry is to make sure every member of the church feels individually equipped and empowered to meet the needs of our community, while expressing God’s love in ways that build relationships and open doors to share the Gospel. We have all received gifts and talents from God, and we want to celebrate and use them to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace (1 Peter 4:10).

Our History

Pastors Michael and Casey live in the mountains of Boone, NC with their four children. Both Pastors have served in various ministry roles since their teenage years, and in January 2015, they both heard God calling them to plant The Rock Church. Though the calling was simple, the process was not. However, The Rock was a dream and a vision long before it existed, and the Lord had been preparing them for this step. They felt released to share their vision for The Rock in January of 2015, and on March 1 of the same year, The Rock held its first Sunday Worship Service. God opened doors that no one else could and provided a location, volunteers, and leaders as only He could have. This church is living proof that when we are willing and available when He calls, God will finish the good work that He began.
