Our Core Values
We believe the Bible is God’s Word. It is living and powerful, inspired and accurate. It is our perfect guide in all matters of life. The Word of God is what sanctifies us (sets us apart) and truly sets us free. ( 2 Timothy 3:16; Hebrews 4:12; John 17:17)
We believe in one God who exists in three Persons — the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. He is loving, holy and just. (Genesis 1:26, 1 John 5:7; 1 John 4:8; 1 Peter 1:15; Romans 3:26) We believe God desires to transform, heal and prosper each and every believer, so that we can live blessed and victorious lives that will also impact and help others enter into an intimate relationship with Him. (2 Corinthians 3:18; 3 John 2)
We believe that Jesus Christ was both God and man. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He lived a sinless life, and He was crucified for our sins. When He died on the cross, He took the punishment for our sins, and then He rose from the dead for our justification to give us His righteousness. Today, He is seated at the right hand of the Father as our High Priest. (Luke 1:35; Romans 5:8-9; Hebrews 8:1; Hebrews 4:14-15; 1 Timothy 2:5) We believe our Lord Jesus Christ is coming back just as He promised. (1 Thessalonians 4:16-18; Matthew 24)
The Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit is our Helper and our Teacher. He guides us in all areas of our lives. He enables us to bear fruit that is born of God as His nature has become our new identity in Christ Jesus. (John 14:26; John 16:13; Galatians 5:22-23) We believe in the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. We believe the Gifts of the Spirit are available today, and can be operational and manifest through the life of a believer as the Spirit wills. (Mark 16:17; Acts 2:1-4; Acts 8:14-15; Jude 20; 1 Corinthians 12:4-11)
We believe that sin has separated man from God, and that only through faith in Jesus Christ can we be reconciled to God. (Romans 3:23; 2 Corinthians 5:17-21)
We believe that salvation is the gift of God to all mankind, and that an individual's salvation and eternal destiny depends solely upon receiving Jesus as one's personal Savior by grace, through faith in Him. (John 3:16-17; Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8-10; Mark 16:15-16; Acts 4:12) We believe that upon receiving the gift of righteousness, a believer is not only forgiven of all of their sins, but cleansed from all unrighteousness and made perfect forever by the blood of Jesus Christ. His grace alone provides everything we need to reign in life. (Romans 5:17; Hebrews 10:14)
We believe in water baptism as an outward act that demonstrates a believer's identification with the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus. We believe in communion as a celebration of Jesus’ death and resurrection, and our union with Him. We believe that the benefits of Holy Communion can be received any time a believer partakes and receives in faith what the finished work of Christ provided. (Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 8:35-38)
The church is designed to help us exalt God as the center of our lives. When we are God-centered, we worship Him daily, listen to Him attentively, and follow His leadership exclusively. Our goal is to magnify Him, not ourselves.
God cares about people. When we are centered on Him, we begin to see the deep needs of those around us and are driven to serve them and bring them to Christ and to His church.
The church is to be filled with God's love which accepts people unconditionally, gives to people sacrificially, treats others with honor and grace, and maintains a passion for unity.
Truth matters. What you believe makes all the difference. God has graciously given us the truth in His Word, the Bible, which is the final authority for our lives and our greatest means of growth and life-change.
In January 2015, Pastors Michael & Casey heard God loud and clear and though the calling was the simple, the process was not. However, fully trusting God on their journey, they began to answer what had been placed on their lives many years before. Michael was then serving as the Senior Pastor at Oak Grove, but knew God was prompting them (not just him) to plant a church. The calling has always been for them as a team, but circumstances had never allowed. When the Lord spoke they were ready to answer. Oak Grove blessed and supported their efforts to bring this church to the High Country. The vision was to establish a church full of Grace and allowing the Holy Spirit to have his way. On March 1st, 2015 The Rock held its first worship service.
